context

The starting point

StoneX is a Fortune 50 fintech operating globally. I joined the project to unify 20+ legacy systems into a single trading platform, starting with MVP for commercial clients, later extended to retail and institutional.

The platform (StoneX Trading) is on production since January 2026.

This case study is an overview of that work.

My role

I led Accounts design end-to-end

01

Direction and research

I facilitated discussions about the direction for accounts, login and dashboard, grounding it in extensive research for each and co-creating requirements, as they didn’t exist.

Prioritized to set the system up for MVP delivery first, with a path to extend to a full experience.

02

Hands-on work

I ran discovery, early research (desk, IDI, system explorations), and synthesis; Co-created and documented requirements.

Designed for web & mobile app: from early concept to final designs and post-release enhancements.

I supported dev, ran QA documenting gaps, co-created research scenarios.

Created platform-wide patterns, logic, early design system and detailed specs.

03

Collaboration

I partnered with business, BA, engineering, data, product, research and UI designers.

Pre -, during- and post-release collaboration for best results.

I initiated closer collaboration in small working groups PM + UX + UXR for better communication and faster integration of usability findings with incoming requirements.

Accounts model that scales

I designed Accounts for the new StoneX trading platform. In this case study I explain my decisions, trade-offs, and show outcomes.

Login & security flows

I designed the platform's access flows for web and mobile: login with multiple methods, password reset, and account unlock — every path with its full state logic, in close collaboration with the security team.

Before design, I did extensive research regarding methods and security, and stakeholder workshop to align on the vision.

Home and dashboards

Home is the platform's gateway: balances, positions, focus for the day, and market news.
One quick view before any action. I designed it first for commercial clients, then explored its retail counterpart.

Commercial views for the MVP, with limited data to use. Commercial home: aggregated balances across business lines, today's focus with margin calls and expirations, positions feed, and market intelligence - designed for web and mobile. Every widget designed with its full state logic, telling the user what's happening and what to do next.

The retail home was still taking shape while I was on the project - research, a first version, and a workshop with the product team to shape what came next: an AI assistant, personalized insights, a risk radar.
